$1,125,000 Recovery For Collision With Landscaping Truck

On March 9, 2012 , a 46-year-old woman was driving southbound in her minivan on I-45 in Webster, Texas when a man in a pickup truck was attempting to exit the freeway in front of her, causing a collision between the two. The driver of the truck worked for a landscaping company in the area and was driving a company truck. The woman, in a desperate attempt to turn this situation around, called Scott C. Krist at The Krist Law Firm, P.C.

Our client, an emergency medical technician, was immediately taken by ambulance to the emergency room where she was treated and released upon examination. Under the impact of the collision, the airbags went off. However, she sustained serious injuries from the impact of the accident including ankle, finger and hand trauma. Her left ankle suffered a torn tendon and neuropathy. Her right hand suffered from fraying and tenosynovitis of her extensor tendon.

For five consecutive months after the accident, our client went through physical therapy for her right hand. During that time, she underwent a right small finger extensor tendon realignment and rebalancing with right fifth metacarpophalangeal joint capsulectomy. Later that year she required surgical intervention for her torn ankle tendon, removal of an accessory ossicle, performing advancement, and tenosynovectomy of the tendon and applying a posterior splint. Another five month period of physical therapy came with the ankle surgery. Regardless of the surgeries she went through, our client continued to find herself in pain and in worsening financial trouble with over $40,000 in medical bills and $15,011 in loss of earning capacity.

Under the legal advisement of attorneys Scott Krist and Alex Horton, our client went through with suing the man in the pickup truck for changing lanes unsafely after she hit the front right side of his truck and also sued the landscaping company for which he worked. After being cited for changing lanes in an unsafe manner, the man was convicted. Working hard to get justice for their client who suffered serious loss, Krist and Horton reviewed her case and proceeded with the trial.

At the conclusion of this case, our client received a successful recovery of $1,125,000 under a $2,000,000 policy limit. Case expenses totaled $34,183.18 with attorney fees of 40%.

$1,600,000 Recovery For Man With Bulging Discs After Ambulance and Car Collision

Automobile accidents are rather frequent in the Houston area, but collisions with ambulances are far more rare. On October 27, 2010, a 28-year-old man was involved in an automobile collision with an ambulance. The man was driving through a Houston intersection at El Camino and Bay Area Boulevard when the ambulance turned left through an opposite red light and struck the front of his car. The impact was strong, severely damaging the man’s car. It was evident that the ambulance was not driving with emergency flashing lights or a siren. Under this situation, Scott C. Krist represented him.

Our client, an industrial equipment operator, was seriously injured from the accident. After a visit to the emergency room, our client was informed that he had bulging discs and was advised to undergo a two-level lumbar fusion. After the surgical intervention, our client went through almost a year-long period of physical therapy with epidural steroid injections. Based on our client’s rehabilitation expert’s evaluation, it was determined that he will be physically unable to stoop, crouch or lift heavy objects the for the remainder of his life and may be unable to continue working at his current place of business. Upon this realization, our client was determined to seek $2,899,613 in loss of earning capacity.

The man, still in intense pain and discomfort, proceeded to sue the ambulance company for negligence. Houston personal injury attorneys Scott Krist and Alex Horton took the lead on the man’s case and were quick to respond to his concerns. The two experienced attorneys successfully recovered a sum of $1,600,000 for their client. With a positive case recovery, our client can move on from the accident. The attorney fee was 40%.
