About Makenna Krist
Makenna Krist is an attorney whose practice focuses on advocating for individuals injured due to negligence, including matters involving motor vehicle collisions, premises liability, and maritime claims under the Jones Act and general maritime law. She approaches her work with a strong commitment to preparation, clarity, and client-focused advocacy.
Makenna attended the University of Texas at Austin for undergraduate school and earned her Juris Doctor from The University of Alabama School of Law, as a recipient of the Dean’s Scholarship. She was awarded the Dean’s Community Service Award in recognition of her dedication to public service. During her first year, she was also recognized for her appellate oral argument performance.
While in law school, Makenna was actively involved in hands-on advocacy and leadership roles. She competed across the country as a member of the Trial Advocacy Competition Team, served as a student intern in the University’s Civil Law Clinic, and participated on the Public Interest Student Board. She was also involved in the Dorbin Association and the Student Bar Association, experiences that strengthened her interest in litigation and client representation.
Prior to graduation, Makenna gained practical legal experience through summer clerkship in Huntsville, Alabama, following her first year of law school, and later at The Krist Law Firm after her second year. These roles provided early exposure to litigation strategy, client interaction, and case development.
Makenna received her undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations along with a Business Foundations Certificate. She was named to the Spring 2019 Dean’s Honor List, reflecting her strong academic performance.
She is licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and is an active member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, the Texas Young Lawyers Association, and the Houston Trial Lawyers Association. Through her practice, Makenna remains committed to providing thoughtful, detail-oriented representation and guiding clients through complex legal matters with professionalism and care.
